basu media

by Brennan Underwood

I've always liked mixing stuff together. On this page you'll find some of the things I've mixed up, in reverse chronological order. Mostly audio, and one video.

dystopic beats 2010

7 minutes 36 seconds

2010

  • basu - dystopic beats_2010.mp3 (18Mb high quality MP3)
  • basu - dystopic beats_2010.flac (40Mb ultra quality, requires special FLAC plugin to play.)

In 2010 I went back and revisited my 2007 mix, dystopic beats, and fixed a lot of little audio problems I'd noticed here and there. The levels are more even now and some sources of distortion have been corrected. A couple song transitions have been smoothed out slightly as well. Remastered in REAPER.

    haunted house

    7 minutes 29 seconds

    2007

  • basu - haunted house mix.mp3 (18mb, high quality MP3)
  • basu - haunted house mix.flac (36mb, ultra quality, requires special FLAC plugin to play.)

For Halloween 2007 I made this haunted house mix from 9 different Midnight Syndicate tracks from their first two albums. This is an ambient atmospheric journey into a haunted nightmare world. Mixed with Mixmeister 5. This mix sounds especially good on headphones.

    Songs:
     – Premonition
     – Serpent's Lair
     – Lost Souls
     – Harbored Souls
     – Midnight
     – Tempest
     – Raven's Hollow
     – Haunted Nursery
     – Lurking Fear

    mix 2 - dystopic beats

    7 minutes 36 seconds

    2007

I made this in 2007. I used Mixmeister 5 and REAPER. I spent about 3 months on it and I learned a lot along the way.

  • basu - mix 2 - dystopic beats.mp3 (17mb mp3, high quality)
  • basu - mix 2 - dystopic beats.flac (42mb, ultra quality, requires special FLAC plugin to play.)

    Songs:
     – Marilyn Manson - Resident Evil Main Title Theme
     – Digital Mystery Tour - Runtime
     – Synaesthesia - Hemisphere
     – Bluetech - Triangle (Retriangulated)
     – Orbital - Lost

    pirate baby battle remix

    twelve minutes eight seconds

    2006

I was showing the original pirate baby battle video to a friend and I happened to put on a Muse album, and the first (and second) song on the album synced up so well with the part of the video that happened to be playing that I decided to try making a combination video. Then I just kept adding on and filling out the rest of the soundtrack, with an intro and everything. I hope I managed to add an even more cinematic feel to the video with this soundtrack. I used Vegas to edit everything together.

  • piratebabybattle (basu remix).avi (155mb AVI video)
  • piratebabybattle (basu remix).mp3 (19mb mp3 audio, soundtrack only)

    Songs:
     – SF Taiko Dojo - Sokobayashi
     – Sepultura - Ratamahatta
     – Rammstein - Du Hast (Clawfinger remix)
     – Muse - Newborn
     – Muse - Bliss

    Video:
     – Paul Robertson - Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006
