Videotile
Videotile is, like, alpha, man. It doesn't even have a version # yet, just
a build number. So far it's only been tested on WinXP.
Um, download it: videotile.exe build #5. Run
the exe and then drop some videoes on the window that appears. Then click on
stuff. Repeat.
Videotile was written by Brennan Underwood, just for fun. He disclaims all responsibility if it does not work right.
(unorganized) features list
- Right click anywhere on the main window for the command menu.
- Drop files on the window to add them to the playlist.
- hold shift -> make play asap. All asap files will play before any normal files play.
- hold alt -> remove from playlist, stop if playing
- Plays multiple videos at once, tiled (Thus "Videotile.") Right click and choose the number of tiles to display.
- Middle click on a tile to zoom it to fill the window. Other playing tiles will auto-pause. Middle click again to go back to tiled mode. Auto-paused tiles resume.
- Super minimal interface. Every pixel is dedicated to video. Right-click to see the main menu. Space bar to pause or unpause playback. Winamp-style ZXCVB keys also supported.
- Left click and drag to move the main window, which snaps to window edges. You can't lose it offscreen. Multi-monitor aware. Screen resolution change aware.
- Pop up seeker/info bar at the bottom of each tile. Single left click anywhere in the popup to seek.
- Mousewheel over a tile to raise or lower the volume. Hold down Shift key to affect all tiles at once.
- Volume auto mutes one click below the lowest setting. Tiles start out muted.
- Double-click anywhere on the main window to toggle fullscreen mode.
- Grab and drag either the right or left edge of the main window to resize it.
- Cursor automatically hides when not in use.
- Dropped files are duplicate checked against the playlist.
- Videos are chosen randomly from the playlist, and removed after they are chosen.
- Therefore, each video only ever plays once (unless you drop it on again after it plays)
- Always on top option
- Loop individual tile option.
- Separate audio playlist/playback. Drop your mp3s on and they'll play just like videos do, only one at a time. "Next audio" and "Later audio" options will appear in the right-click menu. This feature is kind of a hack for now.
